An accusation about how someone reasons
The glossary below records this label as an accusation of unquestioning political support. Our English rendering is a translation of the expression, not a psychological assessment. A dictionary definition can explain what the insult alleges; it cannot validate its use against a particular person. This entry does not infer intelligence, education or disability from a political preference. The relevant subject is a person’s handling of evidence in a specific exchange.
Make the alleged blind spot visible
If a person is ignoring a fact, identify it precisely. Has the complete document been shared? Is its relevance clear? Is there a dispute about authenticity, interpretation or the conclusion being drawn? A person may reject an inference while accepting the underlying fact. That is different from denying the record itself. Good scrutiny separates those disagreements instead of treating every refusal to agree as proof of closed-mindedness.
The strongest concern behind the label is selective scrutiny: demanding perfect proof from opponents while accepting convenient claims from allies. That pattern can be examined through comparable examples. It should also be tested in the critic’s own reasoning. The standard is not emotional neutrality or the absence of political commitments. It is a willingness to expose factual claims to a test that could change the conclusion.
Write down what would change your view
Before debating, state the narrow claim and the evidence that would support or undermine it. For a statutory penalty, that may be the applicable provision and commencement date. For a count, it may be a reproducible incident register. For an alleged motive, the necessary evidence is much more demanding than a shared slogan. This practice prevents the goalposts from moving whenever a preferred answer is challenged.
Our name changed; the evidence test remains
Unprotest began under the Andhbhakts.org name. The dictionary keeps the original expression and its established URL because it remains part of the public argument. Reclaiming a label is an editorial choice, not immunity from criticism. Readers should judge our own records by the same standards: can they inspect the source, understand the inference and see the limitation? If our conclusion does not follow, the correction belongs in the record.
Worked example / IllustrativeIllustrative example: a penalty comparison
Two people disagree about a law. One cites a three-year minimum; the other cites a five-year minimum. Before calling either person blind, check whether they are discussing different offences. Both numbers may appear in the same statute, while only one answers the exact claim. Our paper-leak dossier uses this kind of distinction; it does not diagnose the motives of the speaker.
Questions readers ask
Is asking for more evidence always reasonable?
No. An endless demand for irrelevant proof can obstruct discussion. Explain why the missing evidence matters to the specific conclusion.
Must every dispute have a verdict?
No. Uncertainty is sometimes the most accurate result. An unresolved factual question should not be disguised as certainty for either side.
